ISLAMABAD – Myanmar’s Foreign Minister U Than Swe held crucial talks with Pakistan’s Prime Minister during an official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The Prime Minister warmly received the Myanmar delegation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening longstanding ties with Myanmar. During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration across multiple sectors including trade, economic engagement, education, culture, and capacity-building initiatives.


Pakistan particularly acknowledged Myanmar’s valuable cooperation in combating human trafficking and its support for Pakistan’s engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges to further cement bilateral relations.
Foreign Minister U Than Swe expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and conveyed warm greetings from Myanmar’s leadership. He underscored his country’s keen interest in expanding ties with Pakistan in areas of mutual benefit.
In a gesture of solidarity, Myanmar thanked Pakistan for its prompt humanitarian assistance following the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, which caused widespread destruction.
The high-level meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi. Both nations expressed optimism about the future trajectory of Pakistan-Myanmar relations and agreed to maintain regular diplomatic consultations.
