LAHORE: In line with the Punjab Chief Minister’s “Digital Punjab” vision, another major initiative aimed at promoting transparency and saving time within government departments has been successfully completed, according to Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr. Kiran Khurshid.
She stated that a modern e-filing system has been activated in the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department, marking a significant step towards full digital transformation. The process of scanning and digitisation under this initiative was launched in October 2025.
Dr. Kiran Khurshid said that more than 8,200 historical files of the department have been scanned and preserved through the newly introduced e-FOS system. These digitised records have now been formally included in the Punjab Archives, ensuring long-term preservation and easy accessibility.
She further disclosed that under the e-FOS system, over 1.5 million pages of departmental records have been converted into digital format. The entire historical record of the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department was digitised by four departmental teams within a short span of three months, reflecting efficient planning and execution.
The completion of this initiative is expected to significantly improve administrative efficiency, transparency, and record management, while reducing delays and paperwork in departmental operations—key objectives of the Punjab Government’s Digital Punjab agenda.
