GUJRANWALA: The IREN Squad of RTO Gujranwala, acting under the directions of Chief Commissioner Khalid Jameel, recovered 200 cartons (100,000 packets) of non-duty and non-tax paid cigarettes during a surveillance operation at the Sukheki Motorway Interchange, Pindi Bhattian.
The cigarettes, of the “Cafe” brand, were found without the required tax barcode stickers. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at PKR 22 million, with duty and tax evasion amounting to PKR 15.9 million. The seized items have been shifted to FBR RTO Gujranwala for further legal proceedings.
Commenting on the operation, Chief Commissioner Khalid Jameel, along with Headquarters Madam Riffat Aziz and Commissioner Waqas Hanif, stated that individuals involved in illegal activities and tax evasion are a menace to society. They emphasized that no one is above the law, no recommendations would be entertained, and no concessions would be granted.
The officials also appreciated the outstanding performance of RTO Gujranwala In-Charge Ghulam Noor Jahaniyan and his team, particularly Raja Ved Iqbal, for their successful execution of the operation.
