CAIRO (News Agencies) Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta has issued a religious edict (fatwa) prohibiting the use of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications for understanding the interpretation of the Holy Quran.
The fatwa states that for the correct understanding of religious teachings, only authentic and experienced scholars should be relied upon. The edict clearly mentions that relying on AI applications can lead to the spread of misinformation and create misleading understanding.
Dar Al-Ifta has instructed Muslims to use traditional and authentic sources for understanding Quranic teachings and Islamic commandments, and to consult formally educated scholars in this regard.
This fatwa has been issued at a time when the use of artificial intelligence is rapidly increasing worldwide, and people are also using AI tools to find answers to religious questions.
