BERLIN (News Agencies) Germany’s Education and Science Union has announced a nationwide warning strike at universities and colleges on Wednesday, January 28, over a wage dispute.
The union is demanding a 7 percent salary increase or at least 300 euros per month raise. Protests and strikes will be held at more than 60 locations including Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, Jena and Potsdam.
The union says that due to rising inflation, salary increases for staff have become inevitable. This strike is likely to affect the education of thousands of students.
Negotiations between authorities and the union have not been successful so far, and the union has threatened further protests if their demands are not considered.
