GAZA (News Agencies) United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini has said that Gaza is the most dangerous place in the world for journalists and aid workers.
Lazzarini emphasized that “free and unimpeded access” for journalists is essential not only for media freedom but also to prevent the spread of misinformation, polarized narratives, and disinformation.
More worryingly, these restrictions are also dehumanizing Palestinians, as international media and organizations cannot gain direct access to them, preventing the reality of the situation from becoming clear at the global level.
Lazzarini demanded the immediate lifting of this ban and said it must be ended as soon as possible so that international journalists can report from Gaza and inform the world of the reality of the situation.
According to him, most of the journalists killed belong to local media who reported on people’s suffering and the humanitarian crisis despite the war. He said that the sacrifices of journalists are testimony to Gaza’s war and the international community should consider this.
These dangerous incidents against journalists and aid workers have also become a concern for other international organizations and media rights groups, which have called for global action to ensure access to information and safety measures.
