Beijing/Naypyidaw: China has executed 11 key members of a large transnational criminal gang that operated in Myanmar and was involved in crimes worth billions of dollars, according to China’s state broadcaster.
The report said the network comprised around 10,000 individuals and was engaged in serious criminal activities, including online fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, and other organized crimes. The death sentences were carried out after the completion of legal proceedings.
Chinese state media added that the convicts were allowed to meet their close relatives prior to the execution, in line with established judicial procedures.
Chinese authorities stated that the action reflects a zero-tolerance policy against cross-border crime and warned that further crackdowns on transnational criminal networks will continue.
