LAHORE: Doctors at Jinnah Hospital Lahore have successfully performed a kidney transplant surgery, marking the hospital’s first such procedure of the year. The recipient, a 23-year-old patient named Irfan from Dera Ghazi Khan, received a kidney donated by his maternal aunt.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique congratulated the medical team on the successful operation, stating that free transplant surgeries are being carried out across the province under the government’s Special Initiative for Transplant Program.
He praised Professor Dr. Taiba Waseem and her team for their professional expertise and dedication, adding that the Punjab government remains committed to improving access to quality healthcare services for citizens.
Hospital officials said both the patient and the donor are in stable condition and recovering well following the surgery.
