ISLAMABAD — Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has announced it will observe February 8 as a “Black Day,” calling for nationwide protests against last year’s elections, which the party has termed a “daylight robbery of the public mandate.”
Central Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said in a statement Wednesday that all JUI workers will mark the day as Black Day on the instructions of party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“Rallies will be held in every city across the country, processions will be taken out, and peaceful protests will be recorded in front of press clubs,” he said.
Maulana Haideri added that observing Black Day would “prove that the February 8 election is unacceptable to the nation.”
JUI-F has sharply criticized the electoral results, alleging that “unsuccessful candidates were declared successful through Form 47.”
“This is open robbery of the public mandate,” Haideri stated.
Since the Pakistani general elections held in February 2024, multiple political parties have raised questions about the electoral process and leveled allegations of irregularities.
The JUI-F protest is part of ongoing political tensions that have persisted in Pakistan since the elections.
