GUJRANWALA, Pakistan — The head of Gujranwala’s top business body has described the city as Pakistan’s largest industrial cluster, highlighting its USD 3.5 billion annual export contribution as Rwanda’s top diplomat visited to explore trade opportunities.
Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ali Hamyoon Butt told visiting Rwandan High Commissioner H.E. Harrimana on Monday that strengthening bilateral trade requires business-to-business meetings, trade delegations, and exhibitions.
“Gujranwala is Pakistan’s largest industrial cluster, exporting goods worth over USD 3.5 billion annually and playing a significant role in the country’s GDP,” Butt said during the high commissioner’s visit to the chamber.
Rwanda Eyes Gujranwala Partnership
High Commissioner Harrimana praised Gujranwala’s emergence as one of Pakistan’s leading industrial hubs, attributing the success to dynamic leadership and the hard work of the local industrial community.
“I have visited several chambers across Pakistan, but the Gujranwala Chamber stands out and ranks at the top,” Harrimana said, adding that frequent diplomatic visits to the city demonstrate its immense trade potential.
The Rwandan envoy described his country as a “gateway to Africa,” offering zero corruption policy, visa on arrival, business-friendly regulations, free industrial zones, and various investor incentives.
Harrimana proposed introducing Rwandan coffee to Pakistan and invited a Gujranwala Chamber delegation to visit Rwanda to explore joint investment opportunities.
Trade Relations
Chamber Vice President Saad Jamil Irfani, along with senior and executive members, welcomed the Rwandan delegation, calling the visit a positive development for Pakistan-Rwanda trade relations.
Rwanda has been actively seeking to expand its economic ties with Asian nations as part of its broader strategy to diversify trade partnerships beyond the African continent.
