LAHORE, Pakistan — Punjab University’s Faculty of Computing and Information Technology brought together 500 graduating students and more than 60 leading tech companies Wednesday for its 15th annual career fair aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.
The event at the university’s main campus connected students from computer science, software engineering, information technology, and data science programs with recruiters from top software houses and corporate organizations.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali emphasized the importance of strengthening academia-industry linkages to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving technology sector.
“The career fair would be fruitful for the students of BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, BS Information Technology and BS Data Science programs,” Dr. Ali said.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Raheel Iqbal, Tkxel CEO Umair Javaid, BrainX CEO Junaid A. Qureshi, and other industry leaders attended the event.
The fair provided students with opportunities for recruitment, internships, professional networking, and direct interaction with industry professionals. Participants included students from Punjab University’s Jhelum Campus.

Pakistan’s information technology sector has emerged as one of the country’s fastest-growing industries, with exports exceeding USD 3 billion annually. The sector faces ongoing demand for skilled graduates in software development, data science, and emerging technologies.
