Used to fly kites in childhood; wanted to show my children the essence of Basant — Shah Reez
Lahore — February 8, 2026
Shah Reez, son of prominent figure Alima Khan, also took part in the traditional Basant festival in Lahore. On Friday, he visited the inner (old) city of Lahore along with his young children and flew kites at the rooftop of a friend’s house.
Speaking to media, Shah Reez said: “In my childhood, I used to fly kites enthusiastically during Basant. Today I wanted to introduce my children to this beautiful tradition and the real spirit of Lahore’s spring festival. That’s why we came to the old city, where Basant is still celebrated in its traditional style.”
He added: “Seeing the joy on my children’s faces made the day special. Basant is not just about kite flying — it connects families, friends, and preserves the cultural heritage of Lahore.”
Photos and short videos of Shah Reez flying kites with his children have been circulating on social media, showing a lively and family-oriented moment. His participation reflects the widespread enthusiasm for Basant this year, especially after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz extended the celebrations by one day, allowing more families to enjoy the festival safely.
