LAHORE: Department of Pathology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the Global Health Pathology Network (GHPN) and the Davis Thompson Foundation USA arranged a three-day international workshop on ‘Pathology of Companion Animals’ at City Campus Lahore on Monday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I)presided over the inauguration ceremony of the workshop while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof DrAneelaZameerDurrani, Chairman Department of Pathology Prof Dr Muhammad YasinTipu,DrIshtiaq Ahmad,DrRanaFawadHafeez and number of representatives from diagnostics labs &pharmaceutical industry, professionals from public & private sectors, post-graduate students, researchers and professionals were present. Renowned Pathologists Dr Jeremy Bearss and Dr Kelsey Fiddes from USA were the resource persons of the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that such workshops are very necessary for knowledge sharing, enhancing collaboration with national end internationals experts and learn about new innovative techniques of pathology for the diagnosis of diseases. He said this workshop is also providing opportunities to researchers and students to learn about new skills & experiences from the international experts.He hoped students and researchers will gain maximum practical knowledge from this workshop and in future studentsas trained human resource will play a vital role in the uplift of national economy by utilizing their knowledge and wisdom.
Prof DrAneelaZameerDurrani said that the recommendation from experts of this workshop will be very beneficial to curb disease diagnostics challenges and update the curriculum of DVM according the modern day need as well. She said UVAS Pathology Department working hard for the enhancing of practical competencies in students.
Earlier, Dr Jeremy Bearss spoke about the key objectives of the workshop and ProfDrYasinTipu welcomed participants of workshop came from different countries of the world.
This intensive workshop was designed to strengthen diagnostic skills through interactive learning, real clinical case discussions and practical exposure to cytology, histopathology, necropsy techniques and disease correlation in companion animals.
Various aspects will be discussed during three-day workshop related to enhancing clinical revenue through strategic utilization of diagnostic services, cell ID scenarios (cytology, blood smears, histology), necropsy dog & cat, histology slides rounds species/pathology processes etc.

Various aspects have been discussed during meeting related to academic excellence & internationalization, research, innovation & commercialization, veterinary advancement & productivity solution for livestock growth, industry collaboration & community engagement, promotion of entrepreneurship, governance, digital transformation & financial sustainability, students excess, equity & support services, institutional development and resource mobilization etc.
