Pharmaceutical Exports Record Nearly 34% Growth in 2025: PPMA Senior Vice Chairman
Karachi/Islamabad, February 10, 2026 – The Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has stated that the deregulation of medicine prices has successfully pulled the domestic pharmaceutical industry out of a severe crisis.
He revealed that in the year 2025, Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports registered an impressive increase of approximately 34 percent — marking a significant turnaround for the sector after years of challenges.
The Senior Vice Chairman said:
“Unrealistic price controls had pushed the industry into deep financial distress, severely affecting raw material imports, production, and availability of essential medicines. The government’s decision to deregulate prices has not only given the industry breathing space but has also resulted in a remarkable surge in exports. The 34% growth in pharmaceutical exports in 2025 is clear proof that a market-based pricing system is proving beneficial for the sector.”
He further noted that this growth is strengthening the national economy and positioning Pakistan as a reliable supplier of pharmaceuticals in the global market. However, he stressed the need for continued support measures — including further tax relief on raw material imports, affordable electricity and gas tariffs, and enhanced facilities for research and development — to sustain and accelerate this positive momentum.
Industry analysts believe that deregulation has also encouraged fresh investment in the sector, and pharmaceutical exports are expected to grow further in the coming years.
