Islamabad,Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has delivered a strongly worded ultimatum, stating: “Let’s forget everything and move forward, otherwise when workers come out, they will not let you escape.” The statement centers on the deteriorating health of party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, particularly his severe eye condition.
A senior leader declared: “If Imran Khan becomes blind, many others will become blind too. We expect Imran Khan to be released from jail immediately or at least transferred for proper treatment.” PTI claims Khan has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, resulting in only 15% vision remaining after months of alleged neglect in Adiala Jail. The party accuses authorities of ignoring complaints for over three months, leading to rapid and irreversible vision loss.
On February 12, Pakistan’s Supreme Court took notice of a report by a court-appointed amicus curiae (Barrister Salman Safdar), ordering the formation of a medical board to examine Khan’s eye urgently. The court also directed that Khan be allowed phone contact with his sons in the UK by February 16, warning that any delay could be dangerous.
PTI demands include:
Immediate, unrestricted access to Khan’s personal physicians.
Transfer to a reputable hospital for specialized eye treatment.
End to solitary confinement and restoration of family visitation rights.
The rhetoric has heightened political tensions, with PTI signaling potential large-scale protests if demands are unmet, framing the issue as political victimization rather than mere health concerns.
