Mianwali, February 12, 2026 — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced a package of multi-billion-rupee development initiatives for Mianwali district during her visit, focusing on education, healthcare, and agriculture to transform the area into a model region.
Key announcements include:
Establishment of a Medical College in Mianwali to enable local students to pursue MBBS degrees without relocating to other cities, allowing them to serve their community as doctors.
Creation of an Allied Health College for nursing and other health professions, offering degrees in nursing, paramedical, and allied health sciences.
Setting up an Agricultural College to provide higher education and research in agriculture, boosting the district’s agrarian economy.
Establishment of a Law College to offer legal education and training.
Upgrading the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital to Teaching Hospital status, enabling medical training for students and improved specialized care for patients.
