LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has proposed a new reward mechanism aimed at encouraging citizens to report tax violations, as part of broader efforts to strengthen enforcement and improve compliance across the province.
The proposal was reviewed during a meeting on IT and legal affairs chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra. The session focused on key initiatives designed to enhance transparency while facilitating taxpayers through digital platforms.
Under the proposed mechanism, citizens who file complaints through the PRA Facilitation Application will be eligible for financial incentives. Complainants will be required to provide their bank account details via the e-Complaint System. If investigations confirm irregularities in records or the issuance of fake receipts, a specified portion of the recovered penalty will be awarded to the complainant.
Formal approval of the incentive structure is expected to be sought at the Authority’s upcoming meeting.
During the session, Chairman Sipra directed the further expansion of the PRA’s monitoring dashboard and instructed officers to upload their daily performance reports to improve transparency and accountability.
Officials recently posted to newly established units were directed to meet assigned targets and complete mandatory training within the stipulated timeframe. The Legal Wing was also instructed to expedite the disposal of pending cases and recovery matters to strengthen enforcement outcomes.
Sipra noted that effective implementation of the Electronic Integrated Monitoring System (E-IMS) would significantly enhance tax collection and compliance across Punjab.
The proposed citizen reward initiative marks a shift toward participatory enforcement, leveraging digital tools to curb tax evasion and improve governance.
