LAHORE, Pakistan: Vice Chairperson of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, Barrister Amjad Malik, held a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at his Jati Umra residence, officials said on Thursday.
According to a statement, the meeting focused on ongoing institutional reforms within OPC Punjab and measures aimed at improving facilitation for overseas Pakistanis.
Malik briefed Sharif on the commission’s performance and key initiatives, including outreach road shows, facilitation desks, complaint cell operations, public hearings (khuli katcheries), and proposals for establishing district-level committees and an Overseas Advisory Council.
The discussion also covered mechanisms for strengthening grievance redressal systems and improving coordination to address issues faced by overseas Pakistanis, particularly those visiting or investing in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Malik also congratulated Sharif on the organization of recent Basant festival celebrations in Lahore, noting efforts by the provincial administration to promote cultural activities and host foreign delegates and members of the overseas Pakistani community.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sharif emphasized the need to further strengthen institutional structures and ensure prompt resolution of complaints, according to the statement.
The Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab is tasked with addressing legal, administrative and property-related issues faced by Pakistanis living abroad.
