LAHORE — Secretary/Chief Administrator Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, has said that the restoration and preservation of sacred shrines across Punjab is a top priority of the provincial government, reflecting the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
He said the chief minister has emphasized restoring shrines to safeguard their historical and spiritual significance while improving facilities for devotees. All such projects, he added, are being fully supported administratively by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman.
Dr. Bhutta made these remarks during his visit to the shrine of Imam Ali-ul-Haq in Sialkot, where he was accompanied by Director Projects Rafiq Noor, the Zonal Administrator, Manager Auqaf, local notables and media representatives.
During the visit, he offered Fateha and prayed for the country’s prosperity, stability and progress. Director Projects Rafiq Noor briefed him on the shrine’s restoration plan, which will be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs200 million, with work scheduled to commence next week.
Dr. Bhutta directed officials to ensure high-quality construction, preserve the shrine’s historical authenticity and maintain complete transparency throughout the project.
Later, he also visited and offered Fateha at the graves of the parents of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, praying for their elevated ranks in the hereafter.
Members of the local community and media representatives welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Government of Punjab and the Auqaf Department for preserving the historically and spiritually significant site.
