LAHORE — Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique has directed contractors to strictly implement the beat system to improve cleanliness operations under the province-wide sanitation drive, Suthra Punjab Authority.
He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting at the Civil Secretariat. MPA Arshad Malik, Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahib Din, chief executive officers and field monitoring officers participated via video link.
The minister instructed that all recoveries under the Suthra Punjab programme should be made exclusively through e-billing to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Zeeshan Rafique said the AI-based monitoring system is key to the success of the initiative. “All field staff have been trained in digital monitoring. We must fully utilize the digital system to effectively monitor human resources,” he said.
He emphasized that alongside routine sanitation work, special cleanliness weeks should also be organized periodically to enhance public participation and awareness.
The minister noted that with the establishment of the Suthra Punjab Authority, administrative control has shifted from the divisional to the district level, enabling more effective oversight. He directed that any shortage of human resources be addressed immediately and monitoring be further strengthened at the union council level.
He also ordered that action reports on public complaints be uploaded promptly to the central dashboard, warning that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
