The Library Book Club of the University of the Punjab organized a literary event in Lahore to mark Kashmir Day, bringing together academics, researchers and students for discussions on the region’s history and geography.
The session was attended by Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan, faculty members from the university’s Department of Kashmiryat, including Assistant Professors Dr Samina Kausar and Dr Nadia Mehrdin, as well as researchers and book enthusiasts.
Dr. Samina Kausar delivered a talk on the book Kashir by G. M. D. Sufi, highlighting the historical evolution, cultural richness and intellectual heritage of Kashmir. She emphasized the importance of understanding the region’s past to better interpret its contemporary realities.
Dr. Nadia Mehrdin discussed geographical perspectives presented in Jammu Kashmir ki Jughrafiee Haqiqtain by G. M. Mir, focusing on the physical and regional characteristics of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan thanked the speakers and participants, stating that the university library will continue to organize academic and literary events aimed at promoting intellectual engagement and awareness within the university community.
Kashmir Day is observed annually in Pakistan to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
