LAHORE: Following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a special team has been constituted to strictly monitor ongoing development projects and enforce safety protocols under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Program. Safety and Monitoring Officers have been deployed in nine districts to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
A review meeting, chaired by Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, assessed the progress of ongoing development schemes. Managing Directors of WASAs from all districts provided updates on project progress. The Secretary directed that qualified engineers remain present on-site to effectively monitor safety, environmental, and technical standards.
Noor-ul-Amin Mengal emphasized that negligence in safety protocols will not be tolerated. He noted that development works are advancing rapidly in 10 districts, while the Housing Department is overseeing projects across 15 districts.
The meeting reviewed ongoing projects in Jhang, D.G. Khan, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Okara, and Sargodha, while directions were issued to accelerate work and ensure timely mobilization in Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan.
The Secretary Housing stressed fostering healthy competition among districts in terms of quality and speed. Work progress during both daytime and nighttime will be monitored separately. Contractors demonstrating exceptional performance will be awarded certificates of appreciation, while strict action will be taken against officers and contractors found negligent.
He further instructed that all construction sites strictly adhere to safety measures and that staff and site officers comply fully with protocols. In line with the Chief Minister Punjab’s vision, strict monitoring will continue to ensure timely completion of development projects while maintaining high quality standards.
