BAJAUR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – A major terrorist attack struck a joint Frontier Corps (FC) and police check post in Malangi, Mamund tehsil, Bajaur district, killing at least 10 security personnel and injuring several others.
According to senior police officials, militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the check post, triggering a massive blast. The targeted facility was housed in a building that previously operated as a madrasa. The explosion was so powerful that part of the structure collapsed entirely, killing nine FC soldiers and one police officer trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams, including Rescue 1122 and other law enforcement agencies, arrived promptly and have so far recovered 10 bodies, while two injured personnel were transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities fear that more individuals may still be trapped, and rescue operations are ongoing.
Security forces have sealed off the area and launched a search operation in response. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not yet released an official statement on the incident.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the deaths, including that of a young girl, and reaffirmed that such cowardly acts of terrorism cannot break the nation’s resolve. He urged rescue agencies to expedite relief efforts and provide the best possible medical care to the injured.
