Gujrat (Special Correspondent) — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched a scathing attack on PTI’s 13-year governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that as a Pakistani, she regrets that children of KP are “living in the stone age.”
Addressing students at Gujrat University, the Punjab CM said, “Children of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have weapons in their hands and abuses in their minds, while millions of Punjab’s children are receiving technical training.”
“It has been 13 years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and people don’t even know what development means. They claim to be giving awareness—what awareness?” she questioned.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized, “Here we have talent, there is chaos. I am a Punjabi later, I am a Pakistani first.” She contrasted the two provinces, saying, “On one side there is promise, on the other is anarchy.”
Appealing to KP residents, she said, “For God’s sake, look at Punjab’s children, look at development. Broken roads, chaos, and rudeness cannot be the destiny of KP’s children.”
Without naming Imran Khan, she referred to someone in Adiala Jail, stating, “We pray for the sick person’s recovery. I never said don’t give him food. If he eats well, Maryam Nawaz is happy, I have no problem.”
However, she added, “You should never engage in such acts. Disagree on performance, policy, and service. Remove personal attacks from politics. Throw chaos, mischief, vandalism, and arson out of Pakistan.”
The statement has sparked political controversy, with opposition parties expected to respond strongly to her remarks about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
