ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday addressed the inaugural session of the Gaza Peace Board, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and calling for immediate steps toward a lasting resolution of the decades-long conflict.
Addressing the first meeting of the board, PM Shehbaz declared that an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is not only the fundamental right of the Palestinian people but also an indispensable condition for durable peace in the Middle East.
The Prime Minister urged the international community to uphold United Nations Security Council resolutions and ensure that Palestinians are granted their rightful place among the nations of the world without further delay.
PM Shehbaz also called for an immediate halt to ceasefire violations in Gaza, stressing that sustainable peace cannot be achieved as long as hostilities on the ground continue unchecked.
Pakistan has consistently been among the most vocal advocates for Palestinian rights on international forums, and the Prime Minister’s address reinforced Islamabad’s position that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to stability in the region.
