LAHORE — Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday met with players of the national hockey team and ordered immediate arrangements for their participation in the upcoming Hockey World Cup Qualifier tournament in Egypt, including tickets, kits, and hotel accommodation.
During the meeting, hockey players briefed Mohsin Naqvi on the unpleasant incidents that occurred during the Pro Hockey League, to which the PCB Chairman expressed deep regret and extended his full support to resolve the ongoing issues surrounding Pakistani hockey.
Mohsin Naqvi made it clear that he has no intention of assuming the presidency of the Hockey Federation, but stressed that he would do everything in his power to assist the players and help resolve the disputes plaguing the sport. “We will take care of hockey players in every possible way,” he said, adding that complete cooperation would be provided to settle all outstanding matters.
The PCB Chairman also directed that injured hockey players receive immediate medical treatment under PCB’s direct supervision. He further ordered that all arrangements for the national hockey team’s training camp be completed by tonight, with the camp set to commence from Friday.
Pakistan’s hockey team is preparing for the crucial World Cup Qualifier in Egypt, and Mohsin Naqvi’s intervention is seen as a positive step toward resolving the administrative crisis that has long hampered the sport in the country.
