A major corruption scandal has surfaced within the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Immigration Wing, as four officials, including a senior officer, have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes to illegally clear passengers for international travel.
Investigations have revealed that the accused officials cleared at least 12 passengers — who were otherwise ineligible to travel — within a single week in exchange for cash payments. The officials, who were posted at an international airport, allegedly facilitated the departure of these individuals without proper legal documentation or official clearance.
Cases have been registered against all four arrested officials under charges of corruption and abuse of authority. The FIA’s internal affairs department has launched a thorough investigation into the matter, with sources indicating that more arrests may follow as the probe widens.
The incident has raised serious concerns over the integrity of immigration controls at Pakistani airports and the need for stricter oversight mechanisms within the agency.
