RAWALPINDI (International News): A suicide car bombing carried out by the Fitna Al-Khawarij terrorist group in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claimed the lives of two brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army — Lieutenant Colonel Shahzada Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah — on Saturday. However, the timely response of security forces prevented a far larger catastrophe, with five terrorists killed during the operation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces received credible intelligence regarding the presence of a suicide bomber’s vehicle in the area and immediately launched a targeted operation. As forces closed in and identified the threat, the lead contingent moved to intercept the vehicle. In a desperate last act, the suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a security forces vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of the two soldiers.
ISPR stated that the swift and professional conduct of the security forces neutralized the imminent threat and foiled the terrorists’ sinister plot to target innocent civilians and security personnel in the heart of Bannu city, averting what could have been a major massacre.
The Inter-Services Public Relations reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army remains resolute in its mission to eliminate terrorism and will continue to pursue every terrorist threat with full force and determination.
The nation salutes the supreme sacrifice of Lt Col Shahzada Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah, whose courage and devotion to duty saved countless innocent lives.
