LAHORE: A high-level delegation of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore, led by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nizami, called on Mr. Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), to discuss collaboration for the upcoming International Medical Conference 2026.
The PMA delegation included Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nizami (Chairman Conference), Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan (Secretary Conference), Dr. Wajid Ali (General Secretary PMA Lahore), Dr. Talha Bin Zia Khan (Director TB Control Program Punjab), Dr. Iram Shahzadi (Finance Secretary), Dr. Bushra Haq (Vice President), Dr. Nadir Khan (Vice President PMA Punjab), and Dr. Maryam Fatima (Joint Secretary PMA Lahore).
The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure LCCI’s participation as a partner in the International Medical Conference 2026 organized by PMA Lahore. Both sides held detailed discussions on strengthening collaboration between the health sector and industry.
It was decided that LCCI, particularly representatives from the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors, will join the conference as a partner. The partnership aims to establish strong institutional linkages between the medical community and the industrial sector.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that a special seminar would be organized as part of the conference under the title: “Health of Industrial Workers and Its Impact on the National Economy.”
The seminar will be attended by the Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower, Secretary Labour, Commissioner Social Security, and labor leaders. Discussions will focus on the health challenges faced by industrial workers, measures for their protection, and strategies to strengthen the national economy through improved healthcare facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nizami stated that healthy industrial workers are the backbone of any country’s economy. He emphasized that the collaboration between PMA and LCCI would not only help improve medical facilities but also contribute significantly to national economic development.
Mr. Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal appreciated the efforts of PMA and assured full support from the Chamber for promoting the health and welfare of industrial workers. He described the collaboration between the industrial and medical sectors as a significant milestone for Lahore’s industrial growth and workers’ well-being.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nizami and other PMA office-bearers expressed their gratitude to the LCCI President and his team for their warm welcome and cooperation.
