Defence and Regional Security
In his meeting with Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the ongoing cooperation between the armed forces of both countries and emphasised Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen bilateral defence ties. Sheikh Saud praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and reaffirmed Qatar’s keen interest in deepening the defence partnership.
The two sides also discussed the regional situation, particularly developments in Iran and Afghanistan, stressing the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and collective efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Both sides expressed their shared commitment to elevating the strategic partnership across all areas of mutual interest.
Engagement with Qatar Businessmen Association

Prime Minister Shehbaz also met with a delegation of the Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA), led by its Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani. The Prime Minister commended the QBA’s constructive role in strengthening economic and trade linkages between Pakistan and Qatar, and underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to private sector-led engagement as a key pillar of bilateral relations.
Highlighting Pakistan’s improving economic indicators and investment-friendly reforms, PM Shehbaz invited QBA members to explore opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, energy, agriculture, technology, and export-oriented manufacturing. He also underlined the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a one-window platform ensuring transparency, efficiency, and timely decision-making for investors.
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani expressed strong interest in enhancing business-to-business cooperation and exploring investment avenues in Pakistan. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact, including through an upcoming visit of the Pakistan-Qatar Investment Task Force to Doha later this month, to translate discussions into concrete economic partnerships.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were present at both meetings.
