The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approached an accountability court seeking final approval to close its investigation in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case involving former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
NAB submitted that the closure request is in line with the Lahore High Court’s directives issued on February 4, 2026, and that formal judicial approval is now required to conclude the proceedings. The court’s decision is expected to be closely watched by legal and political circles across the country.
