ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level national security review meeting today amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, issuing key directives to federal and provincial institutions to ensure maximum security preparedness across the country.
The Prime Minister was briefed that all security agencies are on full alert and that every necessary measure is being taken to safeguard national security. He directed all relevant institutions at both federal and provincial levels to immediately ensure comprehensive and effective security arrangements, emphasising the need for complete coordination and collaboration among all agencies.
Regarding Pakistanis stranded in Iran due to the ongoing conflict, PM Shehbaz directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take all possible steps to safely repatriate Pakistani nationals, instructing that they be brought back through Azerbaijan. The Foreign Ministry was ordered to immediately contact the Azerbaijani government to facilitate the evacuation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan and its armed forces stand fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity at all times. He praised the Pakistan Armed Forces, led by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for performing their duties with exceptional national spirit, and paid tribute on behalf of the entire nation to the sacrifices being made by security forces in the war against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, Chief Secretaries of all four provinces, Inspectors General of Police, and other senior officials.
