ISLAMABAD: The government has announced an increase in petroleum product prices for the next 15 days, with the Petroleum Division issuing an official notification. The revised prices will take effect from midnight tonight.
Under the new rates, petrol has been increased by Rs8 per litre while High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been raised by Rs5.16 per litre, placing additional burden on consumers and the transport sector alike.
The price hike comes at a time when inflationary pressures continue to strain household budgets across the country. Analysts attribute the increase to fluctuations in global crude oil prices and exchange rate pressures on the rupee. The revised prices will remain in effect for the next 15 days, after which a fresh review will be conducted.
