LAHORE: In view of the prevailing situation along the country’s western border, the Punjab Police has intensified intelligence-based and combing operations across the province, including the provincial capital.
According to a spokesperson, a total of 672 operations were conducted across Punjab during the past 24 hours. As a result, 135 suspected and criminal individuals were arrested.
The breakdown shows that 63 intelligence-based operations were carried out, during which 1,705 individuals were questioned and six criminal suspects were taken into custody. In addition, 609 combing operations were conducted province-wide, leading to the checking of more than 20,000 individuals and the arrest of 129 suspected and criminal elements.
During the operations, law enforcement personnel recovered two rifles, 15 pistols, one gun, and dozens of bullets from the possession of accused individuals.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, stated that intelligence-based and combing operations would continue without interruption to bring anti-state and criminal elements to justice. He directed officers to further strengthen the door-knocking process to effectively counter terrorists and other miscreant elements.
The IG Punjab emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to maintain law and order across the province, adding that the protection of life and property remains the top priority of Punjab Police.
