LAHORE – Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Tuesday warned that the conflict in the Middle East is likely to spread further, urging the Pakistani nation to remain vigilant during these turbulent times.
Speaking to media outside the court, the former federal minister expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the region, cautioning that ordinary citizens would bear the brunt of any fallout.
“The Middle East war will continue to escalate,” Sheikh Rashid said, stressing that Pakistan must stay alert to any potential spillover effects.
The AML chief also highlighted the plight of the common man in Pakistan, saying that the poor are already living a life of hardship. “The common man is trapped in a storm,” he remarked, pointing to skyrocketing flour prices. “Flour is now 150 rupees per kilogram — the poor cannot even afford bread.”
Sheikh Rashid called upon the public to keep a close eye on their surroundings, including schools, mosques, and local neighbourhoods, as a precautionary security measure amid regional tensions.
