Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a stern directive to all federal ministers and government officials to immediately adopt austerity and financial discipline, as the country faces mounting global economic pressures.
Speaking to senior officials, the Prime Minister said that timely economic measures are unavoidable given the current international situation and reaffirmed that the government will take every possible step to protect public interests and strengthen the national economy.
“As soon as this difficult phase is over and the economy stabilises further, the government will provide maximum relief to the people,” PM Shehbaz stated.
He urged all government functionaries to set an example through simplicity and responsible use of state resources, warning that negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
The announcement signals a renewed push by the government to cut expenditure amid ongoing economic recovery efforts in Pakistan.
