Islamabad, March 16, 2026 – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over an important review meeting to assess measures for economic stability and providing relief to the public in view of the ongoing global tensions.
The Prime Minister stated that consultations are continuing for further steps to provide relief to the people in light of the current global situation. He expressed satisfaction that timely government decisions have ensured sufficient stocks of petroleum products in the country.


PM Shehbaz Sharif said that due to the decisions of the committee formed for economic stability, continuous supply of oil to the public has been made possible despite changing global circumstances. Austerity and savings measures have been implemented at the national level and work on further steps is in progress.
He confirmed that directives for a third-party audit have already been issued to ensure implementation of all austerity measures. The Prime Minister emphasized that economic stability and relief for the people remain the government’s top priority. All actions are being taken keeping in view both immediate relief and long-term economic stability.
The government of Pakistan is fully prepared to deal with any situation arising from global tensions, the PM added. He directed petroleum marketing companies to ensure sale of oil at government-notified prices and maintain complete transparency in the process.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the country’s oil reserves, imports of petroleum products, and measures to provide relief to the public amid global tensions. It was informed that the government is continuously monitoring the sale of oil at fixed prices.
A new feature has been added to the Pak App allowing citizens to report unavailability of oil or overcharging anywhere in the country. The government will take immediate action on such complaints.
Participants of the meeting appreciated the Prime Minister’s decision not to increase oil prices last Friday.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiani, and senior officials of relevant departments.
