KASUR: Acting on public complaints regarding heaps of garbage in parts of the city, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza has taken notice of sanitation issues reported near Railway Road Kasur.
According to residents, while the main roads are being cleaned under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative launched by Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, inner-city areas remain neglected with piles of garbage visible at several locations.
A particularly alarming situation has been reported near Shrine of Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah, where garbage has accumulated just a few yards away from the shrine. Citizens and pilgrims visiting the shrine from different areas have expressed serious concern over the unhygienic conditions.
Local shopkeepers and residents said that sanitation staff have not visited the site for several days. They added that drains in the area are blocked and a foul smell has spread, increasing the risk of infectious diseases. Pilgrims termed the situation embarrassing and said the presence of garbage near the shrine raises questions about the performance of the district administration.
Citizens have demanded immediate action from the district authorities to remove the garbage and ensure proper sanitation facilities in the area.
