SWAT: More than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across Swat District as part of a comprehensive security plan for Eid al-Fitr to maintain law and order, officials said.
District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Muhammad Umar Gandapur said that police would remain on duty round the clock in markets and on major roads during the final days of Ramadan and the Eid shopping rush to ensure public safety.
He added that lady police personnel have also been deployed to facilitate women. Security measures including search operations, snap checking, checkpoints, and mobile as well as foot patrols are being carried out across the district. The Ababeel Squad and Quick Response Force teams have also been activated to respond to any untoward situation.
The DPO further stated that tourist facilitation centres have been set up at key locations including Bab-i-Swat, Malam Jabba, Gabin Jabba, Madyan, and Kalam Valley to assist visitors, where police personnel will remain available round the clock.
Additionally, traffic police have been deployed on major roads to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent violations such as one-wheeling.
