LAHORE: Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer has directed that Rescue 1122 will remain on high alert across all tehsils of Punjab to ensure the timely provision of ambulance, rescue, water, and fire services during Eid al-Fitr holidays.
Chairing a meeting to review the Eid emergency plan, Dr Rizwan Naseer instructed all District Emergency Officers (DEOs) to ensure foolproof arrangements for prompt emergency response. He emphasized the need for close coordination with district and tehsil headquarters hospitals for effective management of any untoward incidents.
The meeting was attended by Directors of Emergency Services, heads of various wings, the Provincial Monitoring Officer, while DEOs from across the province joined via video link. Officials briefed the secretary on preparedness, implementation strategies, and coordination measures to ensure efficient emergency response during the Eid holidays.
The head of operations informed that over 12,000 rescuers will be deployed across the province in three shifts at more than 1,000 key points. Additionally, 2,300 rescue motorbikes, 896 ambulances, and 316 fire vehicles will be operational in all districts. Special rescue posts will also be set up at major Eid prayer venues to provide immediate assistance to the public.
It was further shared that the Provincial Emergency Operation Centre at the Emergency Services Headquarters will remain functional round the clock to monitor and ensure effective implementation of district emergency plans.
DEOs informed that comprehensive emergency response and management plans have been finalized in coordination with Deputy Commissioners and relevant stakeholders through District Emergency Board meetings.
Extending Eid greetings to citizens after the holy month of Ramadan, Dr Rizwan Naseer urged the public to prioritize safety while traveling and visiting recreational sites. He particularly appealed to young motorcyclists to avoid dangerous activities such as one-wheeling, stressing responsible behavior to ensure a safe and joyous Eid for all.
