Islamabad (March 26, 2026): The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its readiness to fully cooperate with Pakistan in ensuring preferential supply of petroleum products, offering a significant boost to Pakistan’s energy security amid regional tensions.
Omani Ambassador Fahad Bin Sulaiman Bin Khalaf Al Kharusi conveyed this assurance during a meeting with Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik. The ambassador stated that Oman stands ready to support Pakistan in strengthening its energy security and that Pakistan’s request for preferential fuel cargoes will be considered positively.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik briefed the ambassador on Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy imports and ensure uninterrupted supply. The Omani envoy welcomed these initiatives and reiterated that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Oman are deeply rooted in history and brotherhood.
It was noted during the meeting that in March alone, Pakistan has already received three cargoes of petrol and one cargo of diesel from Omani ports. Discussions between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Oman Trading International (OQT) are also underway to explore further supplies.
The development is seen as a timely step to mitigate risks arising from the evolving regional situation, particularly concerns over supply routes in the Middle East. Both sides expressed commitment to further expand cooperation in the energy sector and other areas of mutual interest.
