Kampala (March 26, 2026): Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has made a strong public statement pledging military support to Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a series of posts on X, Gen. Muhoozi stated: “We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us into the war — on the side of Israel!”
He added that if Israel needs help, “it only needs to ask,” because “their Ugandan brothers are ready to assist.” The army chief further warned that if Iran dares to attack Uganda with missiles, Uganda will retaliate with its own missiles.
Gen. Muhoozi, son of President Yoweri Museveni, has previously expressed pro-Israel views. Uganda maintains longstanding military and security ties with Israel, which has provided training and support to Ugandan forces in the past.
The remarks come as the Iran-Israel conflict continues to escalate with international implications. While Muhoozi’s statements are often seen as reflective of broader thinking within Uganda’s leadership, no immediate official comment has come from the Ugandan government or Foreign Ministry.
No response has yet been issued by Iranian authorities.
