Islamabad Report By M.Saleem
Islamabad Police have carried out 48 grand combing search operations across the federal capital this week, acting on special directives issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to crack down on criminal elements and illegally residing individuals.
All operations were conducted under the direct supervision of Zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs), with female police officers also actively participating in the exercise.
During the week-long operations, a total of 4,188 individuals and 1,829 households were checked, along with 548 shops and 93 hotels. Police also subjected 1,588 motorcycles and 646 vehicles to thorough searches.
As a result, 221 suspects — including 21 Afghan nationals — along with 133 motorcycles and 5 vehicles were transferred to respective police stations for further investigation. Several accused found in possession of illegal weapons were arrested, and arms along with ammunition were seized during the operations.
The IGP Islamabad has issued standing orders for grand search operations across the district to eliminate crime and ensure citizen safety. Residents have been urged to cooperate with police during checking drives and to immediately report any suspicious activity.
Islamabad Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens through all possible measures.
