Lahore’s senior police leadership has launched a sweeping accountability crackdown, demoting 15 police officers for poor performance, negligence of duty, and failure to arrest proclaimed offenders. The action, taken under a strict zero-tolerance policy, targets Station House Officers (SHOs) and post in-charges across multiple divisions of the city.
Inspectors Reduced to Sub-Inspectors:
Six SHOs were stripped of their Inspector rank and demoted to Sub-Inspector — IP M. Younas of Gowalmandi, IP Akhtar Hussain of New Anarkali, IP Usman Younas of Data Darbar, IP Shakeel Kashif Yousuf of Zaki Gate, IP Ali Zubair Maqbool of Mochi Gate, and IP Asif Zulfiqar of Ravi Road. Additionally, SHO Syed Nabeel Mohsin of Lower Mall was reduced from Sub-Inspector to Assistant Sub-Inspector.
Sub-Inspectors Reduced to Assistant Sub-Inspectors:
SI Tauseef Ahmed of Bhati Gate, SI Farah Mushtaq of Rang Mahal, SI Subhan Ilyas of Shadbagh, and SI Zahid Hussain of Shahdara were similarly demoted. Post in-charges also faced action — SI Tahir Masood of Uparkay Park, SI Zuhair Ahmed of Mayo Hospital Police Post, SI Faisal Bhatti of Sabzi Mandi, and SI M. Azam of Joseph Colony were all reduced in rank.
“Failure to arrest proclaimed offenders and overall poor performance will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Further strict action may follow under our zero-tolerance policy.”
— Senior Police Officials, Lahore
The mass demotion is being widely regarded as a significant step toward strengthening accountability within the police department and improving operational performance across Lahore’s law enforcement network. Sources indicate that the performance of additional officers remains under review, with further disciplinary action expected in the coming days.
