US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued a stark warning to Iran on Wednesday, stating that Washington is prepared to significantly widen its military campaign — including potential ground operations — if Tehran refuses to pursue a diplomatic resolution.
Speaking at a press conference in Washington, Hegseth confirmed that American forces are actively conducting strikes inside Iranian territory and carrying out operations within Iranian airspace. “The United States has an abundance of options. Iran does not,” he said bluntly.
The Defense Secretary revealed that Iran launched a limited number of missiles in the past 24 hours, all of which were intercepted and destroyed. He added that Iran’s military leadership is “demoralized and desperate,” and that further missile attacks would meet the same fate.
Hegseth emphasized that the coming days will be decisive in the conflict, warning that Iran’s capacity to respond is rapidly diminishing. He called on Tehran to immediately engage through diplomatic channels to avoid further escalation.
