9 Miners Killed, 3 Injured in Landslide During Mining Operations in Mardan

At least nine miners were killed and three others injured after a devastating landslide struck a mining site in the Nang Abad Drang area of Tehsil Rustam, Mardan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident occurred while miners were actively working at the site when the ground gave way, burying several workers under debris. Emergency responders, including seven ambulances, a disaster management vehicle, and an excavator, rushed to the scene to launch a rescue operation.
Three survivors were pulled from the rubble in the initial phase of the operation and transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, as rescue efforts continued, the bodies of nine miners were recovered from beneath the debris, bringing the death toll to nine.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the landslide or the safety conditions at the mining site. Mining accidents due to landslides remain a recurring concern in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
