Tehran, April 1, 2026: Iran has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s repeated assertion that the new Iranian leadership has requested a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that Tehran has made no ceasefire offer to any party. He stated that the war will continue until the United States and Israel are held accountable for their aggression and Iran receives full compensation for all damages suffered.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described Trump’s claims as “false and baseless,” adding that no request for ceasefire or negotiations has been made by Iran. Araghchi emphasized that fighting will persist until Iran’s core demands are met, including payment of war reparations, guarantees against future attacks, and recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran maintains that it retains full control over the strategic waterway and will continue to restrict access for adversarial nations while keeping it open for non-belligerent countries.
This latest rejection comes a day after Trump claimed on Truth Social that Iran’s new regime president — whom he called “much less radicalized and far more intelligent” than his predecessors — had asked for a ceasefire. Trump had linked any possible de-escalation to the full reopening and securing of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian position underscores that any end to the conflict must come on Tehran’s terms, not Washington’s.
