Bealeton, Va. (Amazing America) — If you miss old-school roller rinks — the neon lights, disco balls and hum of wheels on hardwood — there’s a roadside attraction in Bealeton, Virginia that’s sure to be right up your alley.
Located on U.S. Route 17, the World’s Largest Roller Skate has been a beloved quirky landmark since 1978, but only recently did it earn official recognition for its size – 10 feet tall, to be exact.
In May 2024, the substantial skate was awarded the Guinness World Records title of World’s Largest Roller Skate, cementing its place as a piece of Americana worth stopping the car for.
Painted in classic black and white with blue wheels, the oversized skate pays tribute to the golden age of roller rinks, when the pastime was at its peak.
The attraction sits at 12166 Marsh Road and is open to the public from dawn to dusk with no admission fee.
Visitors are welcome to snap photos, take a break from their road trip, and bask in the nostalgia of a bygone era — no laces required.
