LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has called on law enforcement agencies to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, stressing the need for stronger and more effective measures to prevent crime across the province.
The governor made these remarks during separate meetings with newly appointed Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Abdul Karim and Punjab Home Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi at the Governor House in Lahore.
Congratulating the new police chief on assuming office, Haider Khan expressed confidence in his leadership and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order. Discussions during the meetings focused on security challenges, policing strategies, and the overall rule of law in the province.
The governor noted that comprehensive security arrangements had been implemented during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, ensuring public safety during the festive period. He added that both the provincial government and leadership are aligned in their efforts to make Punjab a crime-free region.
“The responsibility of safeguarding the life and property of every citizen rests with the state,” he said, urging police authorities to utilize all available resources to maintain peace and stability. He also warned that individuals involved in creating unrest would face strict action.
Paying tribute to police personnel, the governor commended their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, describing their contributions as vital to national security.
Separately, Haider Khan lauded security forces for a successful operation in North Waziristan, stating that ongoing actions have further weakened militant networks. He reaffirmed that the nation stands united with its armed forces in efforts to eliminate terrorism from the country.
