LAHORE: The Energy Department Punjab has formally launched an “Endorsement Label” initiative aimed at promoting energy-efficient products and reducing electricity consumption across the province.
The program was inaugurated by Provincial Energy Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar at a ceremony in Lahore, attended by senior officials including Secretary Energy Dr Farrukh Naveed.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to transition toward greener and more sustainable energy solutions.
He explained that the endorsement label will help consumers identify energy-efficient and high-quality electrical appliances, enabling households and businesses to reduce electricity usage and lower costs. Officials estimate that widespread adoption could result in substantial financial savings and improved energy management across the province.
“In the context of the ongoing energy challenges, this initiative represents a major step toward responsible energy consumption,” Khokhar said, urging citizens to purchase products carrying the officially verified label.
The initiative is part of the broader “Save Up Punjab” campaign, which focuses on encouraging the use of modern, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient technologies. Authorities also plan to launch a public awareness campaign to educate consumers about efficient energy use.
The minister praised the role of the Punjab Information Technology Board and the Energy Department team, highlighting the importance of institutional collaboration in delivering sustainable reforms.
Officials said the program is expected to benefit both domestic and industrial consumers, contributing to a more efficient and environmentally sustainable energy sector in Punjab.
